Biography[]
Faline was born on the Imperial world of Bastion, after her Father, James Brend defected from the Republic before Faline was born. According to James, he had fallen in love with a woman he refused to speak of and was abandoned by her mother at birth. Up until the age of 5, Faline was raised by her father alone with a nanny named Catalina Moret looking after her when one day, during a business trip, James met a lovely Republic News Broadcaster named Kaiya Raye and fell in love, believing her to be the perfect mother figure for young Faline. Initially, Faline was frightened by this change, believing her Papa would abandon her for Kaiya, when in fact it was quite the opposite. Kaiya let Faline into her life and began teaching her the more girly things in life that her Papa could not teach. It immediately thawed the ice between them and formed the incredible bond that truly resembled the mother/daughter relationship Faline so desperately wanted.
On a trip for the SGE, however, James was supposedly killed when his shuttle was either attacked or malfunctioned, something Faline saw in nightmares for several days and had desperately tried to prevent it by attempting to stop her father from boarding the shuttle. For years, it left a deep scar of guilt and while James was eventually found with the help of her Aunt Jamie and Kaiya years later, that guilt never really fell away.
At the age of 14, having shown potential Force Sensitivity for some time, it was decided that Faline should learn from the Jedi. She never made it that far, however. She heard Kaiya and Jamie talking about a confirmed sighting of her father and refused to leave her family until she knew her father was safe. Having honed her guilt of losing her father, Faline was full of hope and determination to save him. She held up well and kept up with the others in Rogue Squadron, until a shot to the gut dropped her. Her last memories were of an older woman and two words. 'My Baby...'
Background[]
Faline was born on Bastion to James Brend and a woman currently unknown to the little girl. For whatever reason, James would stonewall the little girl when she asked about her mother, or much of her extended family for that matter. It was only recently that Faline found out that she had a grandmother and an aunt on his side, but still, Faline couldn't get any more information from her father about her mother, which has often left the child wondering. Also, as Faline was often left in the hands of her nanny, Madame Catalina Moret, the little girl often found herself wondering if she was loved at all as she felt she spent so little time with her father. It was only recently, when he met Kaiya had Faline actually felt included in life. The little girl embraced this new life with Kaiya and Papa together and the dream came to life that, soon, Faline would have a Mommy and a Daddy.
But all was cruelly taken from her when James went on a mission. For some reason, Faline wailed and cried, begging her father not to go, though even she didn't know why. She just knew he had to stop him, but she failed. Her father went on his mission and was soon lost in a shuttle accident. It was reported that there were no survivors. For Faline, this was devestating as her dreams had died with him. She was afraid that Kaiya would no longer be her Mommy, but the hope remained that she would be so. Kaiya told the girl that she would do her best to keep them together, no matter what which is a small comfort to the girl, who was afraid of being sent away, or sent to a family she did not know.
Family[]
Father: James Brend - For the first five years of her life, Faline looked up to her father, worshipped the ground he walked on, but with him MIA and believed to be dead, Faline feels lost without him.
Adoptive Mother: Kaiya Raye - Though she and James had never married, Faline is extremely close to Kaiya and is currently afraid she'll lose her as she has no blood ties to the child.
Auntie: Jamie El-Eison (née Brend) - Though Faline has met Jamie once before, Faline isn't as connected to her as she'd like and while she likes her and would like to know her better, Faline is currently gravitating to what she knows.
Cousin: Andrik Perris - Andrik is a cute little boy and Faline naturally wants to make sure he doesn't get hurt. She does, however occassionally assist in his little wind ups to scare his mother, though not intentionally.
