Background[]
Dain was born on Eshan. His mother died in childbirth, leaving Dain to be brought up by his father.
Dain's father blamed Dain for his wife's death, despite the fact that Dain had no choice at all. As early on as possible, when Dain was two, he was sent to the Eshan Academy.
The Academy was run almost like a military school, which in many ways it was. Dain spent the next thirteen years at the Academy, where in addition to reading, writing, and the like, he learned many of the Echani martial arts, for which his race was famed.
One day when practising in a field with other students, a friend of his was passing by when he tripped. Dain tried to reach out and grab his friend, but instead somehow managed to grab a small nearby rock, levitating it.
A nearby teacher saw this, even though Dain was so surprised that he dropped the rock almost as soon as he picked it up, and Dain was immediatley expelled. Sent home to his father, he was literally turned around and shoved out the door with a ticket to the Jedi Temple on Yavin 8.
