Biography[]
Katara is a retired New Republic Intelligence Service operative. She specialized in Infiltration/Covert Op/Paramilitary type missions. Red now does private security work and runs her own business, Star Security Consultants, Inc., out of Corellia.
Background:[]
Katara Starkos was born in Tyrena along the Gold Beaches of Corellia during the second half of the Emperor's reign of the galaxy. She was the only child of Sasha and Jack Starkos, both Corellians. After the death of her mother at the age of six, growing up in the shadow of her father, an ex-CorSec agent turned galactic bail bonds enforcer, was hardly boring for the young Corellian. Katara was trained to be self-reliant, particularly since her youth was spent helping her father chase crooks, hoodlums, liars, and thieves from one end of the galaxy to the other. By the age of ten, Katara was co-piloting her father's ship, Corellian Dawn, a heavily modified YT-1930 light freighter, and by fourteen, had taken over as the captain, flying her like a well-seasoned pilot. Later, she worked side by side with him as a bail bonds enforcer, becoming very efficient as a tracker and highly skilled as a marksman. She also learned how to use various explosive devices and hack into security systems, but always leaving the more complex slicing to others. Her love of extreme sports has helped to keep her body physically in shape and mentally able to adapt quickly in adverse conditions giving her quick reflexes and a lithe, athletic body. She also is a practioner of various martial arts and likes to use those skills against her targets as well as her skilled blaster to incapacitate her bounties for transport back to custody to receive their due justice.
Kat's heavily modified YT-1930 Light freighter, Corellian Dawn, is sometimes flown under the false transponder Shadow Runner, Jacks-R-Wild, or Devil's Advocate, and can carry a compliment of one starfighter housed in the modified starboard cargo hold on a fighter cradle, if need be.
Going mach ten with her hair on fire makes the spirited redhead the happiest, though she has been known to stop and smell the roses once in a while. Katara spent two seasons swoop racing as an independent racer on the Agrilat Swamp Circuit. This was about the same time she met and fell in love with Valin Tor, a Mandalorian bounty hunter, whom she partnered with in the off season, then on a regular basis until his death. Valin was killed by a vengeful bounty hunter who was angry over loosing a prize bounty to Katara. Though a fair deal, the Rodian didn't think so. Kat blames herself for Valin's death, and lives with the guilt, torment and heartbreak everyday that she lost their unborn child when she hunted down the Mandalorian's killer. (She didn't know she was pregnant at the time.) After the loss of her riduur, Katara went back to working for her father at Star Bail Bonds, based out of Corellia, doing free-lance work. But not long after, Kat realized in order for her to move on with her life she'd need to distance herself from the past. Upon hearing that the New Republic was looking for intelligence personnel, Katara jumped at the chance to join the NRIS.

Father - Jack Starkos is a full-blooded Corellian in his mid fifties, with a muscular, stocky build and a semi-permanent scowl. His closely-cropped, military-style dark hair is frosted with white. He's a grizzled ex-CorSec officer and founder of Star Bail Bonds based out of Corellia. The Old Dog is also a long time associate of the Uhl Turhaya Syndicate, which has been kept a secret from his daughter for all these years. Just as her intelligence work for the NRIS is to him. He's solid, professional, experienced and almost entirely untrusting of anyone, especially big corporations, authority figures and the Empire. Even though Jack is getting on in years, he still works out daily to stay on top of his game, which brings in a cool six figure net profit annually. Jack is often seen accompanying his daughter, Katara, when she goes on her extreme sport adventures since he hasn't lost the need, as of yet, to go mach ten with his hair on fire. Like daughter, like father.
Mother - Sasha Starkos was born and raised in Tyrena, Corellia. She attended Corellia University in Coronet where she met Jack Star, a CorSec agent at the time. Shortly after Sasha finished her teaching degree, Jack just all of a sudden left CorSec to start up Star Bail Bonds with no explaniton given. The two were married and settled down in Tyrena. They had one child together, a redhead just like her mother. One day while Jack was off planet chasing a bail jumper, Sasha was taking their spirited six year old to a friend's lifeday party when their speeder was involved in a hit and run accident. Sadly, only Katara survived the crash.

Late Husband/Riduur - Valin Tor was a ruggedly handsome Mandalorian bounty hunter who Katara meet during her swoop bike racing days. They became bounty hunting partners, then lovers. After many years of being together, they tied the knot in a traditional Mando'ade wedding. She took the Mando'ade name, Kar'ta Tor, which means 'Heart of Justice' in Mando'a . Sadly, Valin was killed a few months later by a blaster bolt meant for Katara. The relationship between the Tor family and her is cool to this day, especially from his younger sister, Briika Tor, who blames Katara for her brother's death. She doesn't use her married name anymore since the death of her Mandalorian husband.
A long-time lover/Colleague - Katara has had an on again/off again relationship with fellow NRIS Special Operative Keno Tylek for years. The two have defined their relationship over time as "Partners. Whatever that means".
An intimate acquaintance from the other side - Katara had an encounter with Marc Tarkin while they both were on missions regarding the same target on Nar Shaddaa when she was a NRIS Operative, and he an Imperial. An one night affair left a mark on both of them that should they ever meet again, might lead them to making it more than just that.
Best Friend/Colleague - Kat befriended Darc Jaeger while they were training together as NRIS field cadets. "The Beauty and the Beast" as they used to refer to each other quickly became close like brother/sister. Even though their intel career paths have gone different directions over the years, they still consider each other best of friends.
(Ex)Husband - Jedi Knight Judah Lesan was a crime solving ally of Red's. He also became a close friend with benefits over time that led to them having a child together. After his promotion to a Jedi Guardian and proving himself worthy of the fiery Corellisi's love, they committed to raise their daughter together as a family. After their second child was born, the two finally got married. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as perfect. They later divorced after many years of marriage.
Daughter - Sasha Starkos is the first child of Katara and Judah conceived during an encounter while he was under the influence of a dark spirit. She has red hair just like her name sake, and her mother.
Son - Judah Lesan Jr. is the second child of Katara and Judah's, conceived after the Jedi's promotion to Guardian and him showing Kat he was worthy of her love again. "JJ" is a several years younger than his sister.

Katara was born in the year of the Krayt Dragon. Dragon people are the most eccentric in the Zodiac. Soaring high into the serene heavens, they can be stubborn, passionate, excitable, honest, and quick to anger. Loyalty and trust are on an earned basis only, and are constantly reevaluated. They listen to their own drummer while the rest of the world stands in amazement. People always admire their individuality and feisty personality. Dragons are capable of doing great work for mankind and they inspire trust in almost everyone. The Dragon symbolizes life and growth and is said to bring the five blessings: harmony, virtue, riches, fulfillment and longevity.

Katara has a dark blue 'star' tattoo on the left, lower side of her neck, and a small 'Corellian rose' tattoo on the inner aspect of her right hip bone. She covers them with syn-flesh when undercover.

The spirited Corellian is an avid outdoor enthusiast and loves to participate in extreme sports. The redhead is well known for her swoop racing, and mountain and rock climbing exploits, but she also enjoys:

Katara was homeschooled during her formative years by her father and his droid companion as she accompanied the bondsman across the galaxy on the Corellian Dawn while the elder Star tracked down the most elusive criminals. Later, she took courses from Corellia University - Coronet obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.

Katara is a naturally skilled marksman, a lethal fighter, and a mean pilot and driver. Her technical skills stretch as far as wiring up a charge, picking a lock or hacking a basic system. All pretty practical stuff. Kat's not big on theory - like the rest of us, she still has to concentrate when some technical expert starts rattling off facts. But never underestimate a Corellian, espeically a spirited redhead, to get the job done right the first time.
